As a class project, we were instructed to create a boater hat as an introductory project for millinery craftsmanship. Throughout the process of making the hat we were provided a pattern to create the base. We used various method of hand sewing techniques such as, the whip stitch and tunnel stitch. Also using buckram as a base for the longevity of the hat. As well as wiring to support the brim and tip. Twill tape was used to smoothen out the ends of the buckram and wiring. We also had the choice of choosing our own fabric and decorating the hat to our desired taste.
